SSL#8 - Adam Devine

I know, I know, yet another Secret Sunday Lover that has been moved to Monday, I'm sorry. But, I'm sure you'll forgive me after what I bring to you today. He has been part of my "Top 5 Man Candy" for quite a while. I've had the privilege of seeing him preform live twice - Saturday night would've been my third time, but the front rows were sold out, and c'mon what's the point in going to a Maroon 5 concert if you don't have good seats, right? Anyway, I figured it was time for Adam to join the Secret Sunday Lover Club.

Name: Adam Levine // Age: 32 // Profession: Front man and guitarist for Maroon 5 // Why we love him? Pff, where do I even start... HE IS TRUBO-HOT. He is one of those "Every girl wants to date him, every guy wants to be him" guys. He's a bad-boy turned nice-guy, but still has that bad ass attitude that drives us crazy. He is a great performer. He is not single, but has a drop dead gorgeous girlfriend (model Anne Vyalitsyna) so, you really can't complain. Oh, I could go on and on (and on) about all the things we love about Adam, but I'd rather not - I could do without those tattoos, though.

It was hard choosing a particular video, he looks so good in all of them, but that grease-look in "Misery" the first single from Maroon 5's latest album, is something To-Dye-For!! Enjoy

Printed Matters Vol.2

So, this "Printed Matter - Part two" was never part of the original plan, but, the funnies thing just happened. Remember Self Service Magazine? Remember Garance Doré? And remember  how many times I've mentioned how amazing that woman and her blog are? Well, here's the part where everything comes together (apart from the fact that Garance and I share (another) thing in common).
I was reading her blog earlier today and her most recent post is about her "collaboration" with Self Service. They asked her to make a selection of her favorite images as well as little interview for their online magazine, which is also super cool.

This pretty much rounds up my entire point. If you're cool like Garance, you get cool magazines to ask you to work with them / If you have a cool magazine, you can ask cool people like Garance to work for your magazine... and so on.

Here's a link to her lovely blog, which has another link to another lovely blog - if you're cool, you'll check out and spread the love! http://www.garancedore.fr/en/

Printed Matters

Another thing I love about New York is, it's one of the few cities you can find everything, and I mean every-single-thing you can possibly imagine.

For example, I was walking around Soho, minding my own business, when all of a sudden I walk by this little shit-hole magazine store... and what do I see? A huge collection of the worlds most beautiful magazines on the window display. Those magazines you see over and over again on blogs or online and wish you could hold and flick through with your own two hands. Those beautifully printed pages that are actually books but like to call themselves magazines to keep a low profile and make suckers like me WANT them so badly we want to cry... yeah, "those".

Anyway, that lovely shit hole had thousands of "those". Of course I wanted them all. And of course, "those" cost a fortune, so I was only able to get two: "the gentlewoman" and "Self Service" - both great magazines, graphically speaking. But the editorial content as well as the entire concept of "the gentlewoman" really really blew me away. What an incredibly well executed, designed, thought-out piece of work, literally intoxicating.

Here's the link to their official site - you can find out more about the idea behind it, and see part of the magazine too... if you're interested!

I Heart NY

When we think of New York, there's not a particular thought that comes to mind. Sure, we think Statue of Liberty, sky scrapers, Broadway, 5th Av... but the truth is, NY is so many things at the same time, you can't really define it as one. This city has such a huge global impact on finance, media, art, fashion, gastronomy, education, entertainment - and more -  that makes it not only unique, but fascinating.

It is well known that New York is home to some of the worlds most luxurious hotels, restaurants, clubs and stores... that is if you are Chuck Bass, or if you're traveling with your parents, or you're a rich dick who loves to spend daddy's money - no offense! But the amazing thing about NY is you can actually enjoy the city, have some of the best food you'll ever taste, walk into some amazing little shops and be incredibly happy, while still sleeping on the couch (or the floor) of you're friends Brooklyn apartment.

Yes, my NY summer of 2011 experience was very different to my previous visits... never the less, I had such an amazing time, it was well worth it - It's practically impossible not to love New York. So, I made a little list of my favorite places I'd like to share with you:

To Eat:
Cafe Colette / Egg: For Brooklyn locals
Rbbts / Ruby's: SoHo's best burgers and sandwiches + hot (real) hipsters around, guaranteed!
The Standard Grill: If you feel like mimosas and eggs benedict - always ask for a table outside.
Sun Rise Mart: For Japanese lovers - cheap and yummy Japanese food and products
Cafe Select: Best croque madam - plus, we hear Kirsten Dunst is a regular customer

To Drink:
For coffee: Blue Bottle Coffee in Brooklyn - the best freshly brewed coffee.
For Beer: The Lot On Tap or BierGarten at the Highline  - communal tables, always a good way to meet the perfect stranger.

To Snack:
Sweet: Magnolia Bakery - best cupcakes ever!
Frozen Treat: La Newyorkina - Mexican Ice Pop, ask for Mango-Chile

To Shop (or window shop):
Creatures of Comfort: hand picked selection of boutique brands and local pieces
Saturdays: jeans and t-shirts for the NYC surf scene + they have a coffee bar and some good lookin people in there
OAK: dark but beautiful pieces

To See:
Museum: Alexander McQueen - Savage Beauty exhibition at the Met Museum (completely breathtaking)
Stores: Comme Des Garçons / Balenciaga stores at Chelsea (the store is like a museum)

Oh, New York... just thinking of you makes me smile!

SSL#7 - Mystery Man

It's been almost a month since my last post. Sad, but true. I don't know why I haven't been posting as much as I did before. I could say I've just been busy (which is partly true) but honestly, I was under a severe "lack of inspiration" phase that has finally come to an end - hurray to that - thanks to a recent and unexpected trip to NYC. That place is too f*cking amazing. There are so many unbelievably cool places to go to, so many unbelievably delicious dishes to eat, so many unbelievably breathtaking things to see, so many unbelievably gorgeous people to stare at... WhoaaWhoaaaWhoaa!! I wanna go back - so badly.

But, since that won't be possible, at least not for a while, I guess I'm just left with a bunch of stories to tell and a bunch of things to share... But that's coming up later this week, because today, it's sunday, and today's Secret Sunday Lover is a young man who I've had a crush on for a while now, and who'd maintained his identity secret until earlier today.

Name: James Hampson // Age: 21 // Profession: Model // Why we love him: He likes to surf, snowboard, skateboard, musical instruments and curry. His favorite piece of clothing is a knitted jumper from the 60's his dad gave him. He is so beautiful ( I wish I could say handsome) he reminds us of Daria Werbowy - but the reason I love he most is... He looks great with a toothbrush in his mouth!
